What is Holistic Nutrition?
Holistic Nutrition is a science, which studies the relationship between diet (nutritional intake) and states of disease. As we are all biochemically individual, unique in our makeup, we require different nutrients, in different quantities, and at different stages of growth in our lives. Holistic Nutrition emphasizes the need to look at the whole person including the nutritional, physical, physiological, emotional, social, and lifestyle states, in order to properly assess and recommend a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical strategy, that is best for your body, in order to help you reach your health goals.
“The Doctor of the Future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
Kathy Wilkes, philosophy:
There are many things in our day to day lives that we cannot control: the traffic, the weather, the pollution in the air, the behaviours of our loved ones, etc. The only thing we can control is the food we put into our bodies. We need to take responsibility for our own health, as there are consequences to every decision we make nutritionally.
It is about quality rather than quantity! You really should not be thinking about the calories in the foods you eat, but rather, the nutritional content. Many people are overfed, yet undernourished. Our food needs to be fresh, clean, underprocessed, and uncontaminated. Our food needs to be very closely related to Mother Nature, or at least a very good friend!
Never, ever, ever give up. Reaching optimal health is a journey; you will discover that what you eat is what you are. Food can have a considerable impact on your brain chemistry. Food provides your brain with the precursors necessary to synthesize and activate your neurotransmitters. A diet lacking in these nutrients can strongly influence your mood and behavior. Imbalanced blood sugar levels, food sensitivities, dysbiosis, heavy metal toxicity, inflammation and nutrient deficiencies can all trigger depression, anxiety, and ADHD.The direct physical and emotional impact that nutrition has on you will continue to motivate you on this journey. A commitment to change is absolutely necessary.
“Strength does not come from a physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will."

5 Health and Lifestyle Tips:
1. Practice Mindful eating as opposed to mindless eating. Think about What you are about to eat, and why you are about to eat it, and most importantly how you think you will feel tomorrow if you eat it.
2. If your weight goes up or down by about 3lbs in a day(and it is not PMS) then it is more than likely a food sensitivity and you need to call me.
3. Those 100 calorie snack packs will not help you to lose weight, and popcorn is not a health food and will also not assist you in weightloss.
4. Start on a Monday! Any program you begin on any day is great, but you know what they say…”If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Get your plan in place, get your food and supplements you need, prepare yourself emotionally, and book a consultation with me to coach you to success.
5. Water is the medium by which all bodily reactions occur. One of the most important jobs the liver has is metabolizing stored body fat into energy. As a result ones weight increases because the stored up fat can't be burned and turned into energy, and the body tends to hold onto more water because of the initial deficiency. You can't lose body fat properly without drinking water.
